Polacek Recognized as Hobey Baker Hopeful

TROY, N.Y. - Inside College Hockey.com has recognized Rensselaer junior Chase Polacek as one of the top three candidates for the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award.  The website chooses its top three candidates on a weekly basis beginning in early February and Polacek has appeared for the first time this week.

In 32 games this season, the Academy of Holy Angels graduate has 23 goals and 23 assists for 46 points - all career-highs.  Polacek has scored 11 power play goals, two shorthanded goals and two game-winners.  He has been assessed 13 penalties for 26 minutes.  In 18 ECAC Hockey matches, he has 31 points on 15 goals, including five on the power play, and 16 assists.

Polacek, who has 106 points (41 goals, 65 assists) in 109 career games, is currently first in the league in six categories, including goals, points, power play points (25), power play goals, shorthanded points (5) and shorthanded goals.  He is second to teammate Brandon Pirri in assists.

Nationally, the reigning ECAC Hockey Player of the Week is third in power play goals and sixth in points per game (1.44), goals per game (0.72) and shorthanded goals.
