McPherson Chooses Hannover

The Hannover Indians (Germany) announced Thursday that it has secured the services of former Rensselaer standout Andrew McPherson for the upcoming season.

The 31-year old center joins Hannover after spending the past two campaigns with Riessersee (Germany). A native of Dauphin, Manitoba, McPherson finished as the third-leading scorer with Riessersee in 2009-10 compiling 20 goals and 47 assists in 57 regular-season games.

McPherson netted 12 goals and added 27 assists in 41 games with Riessersee in 2008-09. Prior to joining Riessersee, McPherson skated one season with Straubing (Germany) and two campaigns with Landsberg (Germany).

Hannover head coach Bernhard Kaminski is confident that McPherson is the right man: "For the position of the first Row center, we had several options, including other top people from the league. It was important that a man in the league brings experience and leadership qualities. We are convinced that we have met with Andrew, the right choice."

McPherson skated for the Engineers from 1998-02. He competed in 132 collegiate contests, scoring 26 goals and adding 30 assists. McPherson’s most productive offensive campaign was 2001-02 when he scored six times and set up 14 goals in 35 contests.
