Polacek Candidate for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award
TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer senior forward Chase
Polacek is a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS
Award.
Polacek, a forward and assistant captain, is one of 20 nominees
for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. CLASS is an acronym for
Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The
award was launched during the 2001-02 season to honor the
attributes of college senior athletes who remain committed to their
university and pursue the rewards that a senior season can
bring.
A native of Edina, Minn., Polacek led ECAC Hockey in numerous
categories on his way to capturing prestigious accolades last
season, including ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, Hobey Baker Award
finalist and National All-America. In 39 games he had 26 goals and
26 assists for 52 points. Twenty-eight of his points (13 goals, 15
assists) came on the power play. In 117 career games he has 44
goals and 69 assists for 113 points.
In addition to his success on the ice, Polacek has also
contributed off of it, donating many hours to various programs. He
has been a volunteer with the Troy-Albany Youth Hockey Association
since arriving on campus; participated in the American Cancer
Society’s Relay For Life on three occasions; played in an
exhibition game against the Capital District Sled Warriors to help
raise money and awareness for the team and STRIDE Adaptive Sports;
and worked on several community clean-up programs.
The Lowe’s candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists
midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be
placed on the official ballot.
