Appert Looking for Consistency from Helfrich
TROY — Tyler Helfrich is one of the keys to Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute’s offense this season. The senior
winger, who led the team in scoring with 29 points (9-20-29) as a
freshman, has had two injury-affected, yet two disappointing
seasons, since then.
The Calgary native, who’s been a healthy scratch for at
least two games in each of those seasons, has totaled just 10 goals
in 62 games over the past two seasons after his nine-goal output
during his first 38 games.
The Engineers’ Nos. 2-3 scorers from last season, Brandon
Pirri and Jerry D’Amigo, took 21 goals, 56 assists with them,
leaving RPI after one year for pro hockey.
