Appert Deals with Lineup Decisions

The Record
TROY — The recent benching of Tyler Helfrich and Patrick
Cullen, two mainstays in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s
hockey lineup, has put a new wrinkle in the lineup-juggling head
coach Seth Appert must do. Perhaps it puts wrinkles in the 35-year
old Appert’s youthful face; or maybe not.
The Engineers have 16 forwards, with little-used junior Kevin
Beauregard having recently practiced as a defenseman.
With freshman winger C.J. Lee nailing down a regular spot since
he’s been healthy, nine of those forwards play pretty much
every game. They are:
