Binghamton native and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Jerry D'Amigo will start his first pro season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, setting up a homecoming date when the Marlies come to town on Nov. 13.
Though the prospect of skating the ice at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena as a professional for the first time is something D'Amigo looks forward to, being knocked off the Maple Leafs' roster midway through training camp was not exactly what he had planned.
"I understand why they sent me down early, but it was still hard to take," D'Amigo said. "My goal was to stay as long as I could, but I knew I didn't have a good performance."
