TROY -- Hockey goalies are often stereotyped as being a bit quirky, a little zany, much like a baseball closer. Having the courage to protect your team's goal while opponents shoot frozen, vulcanized rubber pucks at you can be unsettling.

Not for Allen York, the calm and cool Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute goaltender who is rock-steady in his role as the last line of defense for the Engineers.

York has been the only goaltender to take the ice this season for RPI (3-1-3) as the Engineers take a six-game unbeaten streak on the road Friday night at Dartmouth in the opening game of the ECAC schedule.
