Munn Returns to Sheffield
Former Rensselaer standout Steve Munn is returning to the Sheffield Steelers of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), the team announced. Munn spent the 2009-10 campaign competing with the Tohoku Free Blades of the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH).
Munn, who starred at RPI from 1998 through 2002, returns to the
Steelers, a team for which he played two seasons prior to heading
to Japan. The North Battleford, Saskatchewan native played in 104
games with the Steelers, amassing six goals and 18 assists. In
eight playoff games, he scored one goal and added three
assists.
"After an amazing year over in Japan, my family and I have been
looking forward to coming back to Sheffield for quite some time. We
were very happy our first two years in Sheffield, have loved the
city and have made friends we'll have our whole lives and to get a
chance to come back is great," Munn said. "It's been a tumultuous
summer, and I know I'm not alone in looking forward to putting it
all behind us and focusing on what happens when the puck drops. I
think it will be an exciting season and my family and I can't wait
to get settled back in and get started."
Munn competed for the Engineers from 1998 through 2002. He participated in 140 contests, scoring five times and setting up 28 goals.
