D'Amigo Remains with Team USA
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Twenty-eight players attending the 2010 USA
Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp will remain to face Finland
and Sweden in a series of international games this week and
Rensselaer sophomore-to-be Jerry D'Amigo is among
them. There were originally 42 players auditioning for a spot
on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2011
International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec.
26, 2010 to Jan. 5, 2011, in Buffalo.
D'Amigo, a native of Binghamton, N.Y., participated in the 2010
World Junior Championship. He finished second in the
tournament - and on the team - in scoring with 12 points on six
goals and six assists. He was first on the team in goals and
third in assists. Among his goals were a game-winning goal
and a power play goal. He was also a plus-7.
He was named the U.S. Player of the Game twice and he had multiple
points (5 goals, 1 assist) in each of the three games in the medal
round.
For RPI, D’Amigo played in 35 games, tallying 10 goals and
24 assists for 34 points. He was third on the team in points,
second in assists and fourth in goals. He was the 2010 ECAC Hockey
Rookie of the Year and a Freshman All-America by Inside College
Hockey.com.
The 2010-11 Engineers return 21 players, featuring 15 forwards,
three defensemen and three goaltenders. Among them are the top
three scorers, including forward Chase Polacek, who led
the team with 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists) and was recognized
as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, a finalist for the Hobey
Baker Award and a National All-America last season as a junior. Two
others – goaltender Allen York and forward
Brandon Pirri – also captured All-League
recognition.
