RPI Announces Schedule Updates
TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s hockey team has added two events to its 2010-11 home schedule and a third contest will be held at the Houston Field House.
The Engineers open the season by hosting the University of New
Brunswick in an exhibition game on Tuesday, October 5 at
7p.m. Prior to that first game, RPI will hold its Annual
Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday, October 2 beginning at 4p.m.
Following the Red-White Scrimmage is an exhibition game
between the Albany Devils and the Adirondack Phantoms at 7p.m, also
at the Field House. During that American Hockey League
contest – which is just one week prior to the regular season
opener between those two teams – Rensselaer’s
student-athletes will be on hand for a meet-and-greet with
fans. They will also be available to sign autographs and pose
for photographs.
For each of the three games, admission is FREE for Rensselaer
season ticket holders and RPI students with proper
identification. For all others, tickets to the two exhibition
games are $10 for adults and $7 for students and senior
citizens. There is no charge for the Red-White Scrimmage.
Additional information, including how to purchase 2010-11
Rensselaer men’s hockey season tickets, is available through
the Houston Field House box office at 518-276-6262.
The Engineers return 17 players, featuring 11 forwards, four
defensemen and two goaltenders. Among them is senior forward
Chase Polacek, who led ECAC Hockey with 52 points (26 goals, 26
assists) and was recognized as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year,
a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award and a National All-America
last season.
The regular season begins October 8-9, when RPI travels to Colorado College for a pair of non-league games against the Tigers, a perennial national power. Both games begin at 9pm (Eastern).
