DETROIT — Three and one-half weeks has passed since
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has played a hockey game but head
coach Seth Appert says it's still important that the Engineers
enter tonight's Great Lakes Invitational Hockey Tournament coming
off a victory, rather than still mired in a five-game losing
streak.
"Yeah, it is very important," Appert said after Monday's practice
at downtown Detroit's famed Joe Louis Arena. "The guys feels a lot
better about themselves."
The Engineers (9-9-1 overall) open the two-day tournament at 7:30
tonight against perennial power Michigan, which is not enjoying a
great season to date at 9-9-0.
