Morissette Returns to Amarillo
AMARILLO, TX -- The Amarillo Gorillas re-signed forward Jake
Morissette, a former Rensselaer standout, for the 2009-10 season,
the team announced Tuesday.
Morissette, 26 (3/6/1983), returns to the Gorillas for his second
professional season. Last year, he earned 24 goals and 27 assists
over 63 games, finishing the 08-09 campaign on a four-game point
streak.
“Jake’s return gives us another young leader for our
club,” commented Gorillas Head Coach Brian Pellerin.
“He is a very well rounded player who plays with a ton of
heart. I look forward to seeing him add a great deal to our club
both on and off the ice.”
The Fruitvale, British Columbia native played his collegiate
career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where
he averaged over 16 points in his final two seasons with the Big
Red. He also garnered the ECAC All-Academic honors in two of his
four seasons while attending R.P.I.
“Jake’s performance this season will be paramount to
our team’s success this year,” added Gorillas General
Manager Robert Simmons. “There are not many young players in
the league with the raw talent and the ability to lead like Jake
can.”
