Murphy Signs with Metro Stars
The Düsseldorfer EG Metro Stars (Germany) announced Friday that they have signed former Rensselaer standout Mark Murphy of the Augsburger Panthers to a two-year contract beginning with the 2009-10 season.
The 32-year-old striker spent the past three seasons with the
Panthers, competing in 133 games and amassing 49 goals and 60
assists. In the past season, Murphy scored 19 goals and contributed
32 assists in 50 contests. He was also captain of his team.
A native of Duxbury, Massachusetts, Murphy participated in 138
games at Rensselaer (1995-99). He amassed 29 goals and 76 assists,
including a career-best 41 points, including 11 goals, in 37 games
in his senior campaign.
