TROY — Make no mistake Rensselaer hockey fans, this
weekend’s games against Sacred Heart and American
International College are not only ‘must-win’ games,
they are ‘must win emphatically’ outings for the
Engineers.
This was supposed to be the year RPI, despite the fact that five
of the team’s play-every-game forwards are freshmen and
sophomores, was to dramatically improve its victory total. The
talent level over the past couple years has clearly been
improved.
Beating teams from the Atlantic Hockey conference is crucial to
meet that goal. Winning these two games, and downing Army on
homeice next weekend, and scoring at least 13-15 goals in the
process, is virtually mandatory for the Engineers, who’ve won
just a total of 31 games the past three seasons — 28 during
the regular season.
