TROY — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute won the hockey game
it had to win last weekend. And the 3-2 overtime victory over
Colgate gave them their first four-game ECAC Hockey unbeaten string
(3-0-1) in the Seth Appert era.
While not a huge victory, a loss in that game would have the
Engineers in 10th place in the league, rather than the eighth spot
where they currently stand.
That slot is important because to attain their goal of earning a
homeice berth in the preliminary round of the ECACH playoffs, they
must finish at least eighth to be home for the playoffs for the
first time in four seasons.
