Playoff Sweep a Starting Point for Engineers

The Record
TROY — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s upset
victory over Dartmouth last week in the preliminary round of the
ECAC Hockey playoffs must be kept in the proper perspective.
The Engineers, even with the sweep of the Big Green, still have
just nine victories (9-25-2) all season, with their next loss
(unless they win out and win the NCAA championship) will set a
school record for defeats in one season, and they are going to have
to severely improve their defensive-zone play next season when
their offense should be much deeper.
Having said all that, the victories at Dartmouth shouldn’t
be underplayed, either.
