The scoresheets from the ECAC Hockey tournament first-round series
between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Dartmouth show that
the 11th-seeded Engineers’ underclassmen played
significant roles in helping them upset the sixth-seeded Big
Green.
But RPI coach Seth Appert said the statistics don’t tell the
entire story.
He credited the play of his upperclassmen, including senior
forwards Seth Klerer and Andrei Uryadov, with helping the
Engineers advance to the quarterfinals for the first time
since 2004. The Engineers (9-25-2) beat the Big Green, 3-2, in
overtime Friday and 3-1 on Saturday in Hanover, N.H. They will face
12th-ranked and second-seeded Cornell (18-7-4) in the best-of-three
quarterfinals starting Friday at Lynah Rink.
