D'Amigo Among Candidates for 2010 U.S. National Junior Team
TROY, N.Y. – USA Hockey today named 29 players to its
preliminary roster for the 2010 U.S. National Junior Team and
Rensselaer student-athlete Jerry D’Amigo has been chosen to
participate in a three-day pre-tournament training camp December
17-19 in Grand Forks, N.D.
A native of Binghamton, N.Y., D’Amigo has five goals and
eight assists for 13 points through 15 contests this season. The
forward has a pair of power-play markers and leads ECAC Hockey with
three game-winning scores. He is also second to classmate Brandon
Pirri (7-7-14) in the league in rookie scoring and is 11th overall
in assists.
Last season, D’Amigo was second on the U.S. Under-18 Team in
scoring, with 23 goals and 33 assists for 56 points in 53 games. He
recorded a team-high 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) during the
World Championships in which the club took gold. He was drafted by
the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round (158th overall) in the
2009 NHL entry draft.
D’Amigo will be joining eight teammates from the gold-medal
winning 2009 U.S. National Under-18 team at the camp. In Grand
Forks, the squad will play an exhibition game against the
University of North Dakota on December 19 and following camp, a
reduced roster will take on the Czech Republic in Regina, Sask., on
the 22nd.
