Alford to Play for Flint
FLINT, MI -- The Flint Generals of the International Hockey League announced today the signing of former Rensselaer goaltender Jordan Alford.
Alford spent the past four years with RPI. In 51 games for the Engineers, the 6-2, 180 puck stopper had a 16-23-4 mark with a goals against average of just over four per game. He won his first career collegiate game against UConn in 2004 and was chosen ECAC rookie of the week in that same year. The Red Deer, Alberta native posted his first career shutout against Robert Morris in 2004, was chosen as ECAC Goaltender of the Week in 2006, made the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll in 2007 and was chosen as a member of the Governors Cup All Tournament Team and Most Outstanding Player also in 2007.
"I've heard great things about this young man, and after speaking with him I really like the confidence and determination he will bring," said Head Coach Peter South.
The Generals have signed 12 players for the 2008-09 season.
