ALBANY — Any athlete who laces up hockey skates carries
the dream of someday playing in the National Hockey League. Marc
Cavosie had it in his days growing up in Cohoes and kept it through
a three-year career at RPI and six professional seasons.
It also served as a prime motivating factor as Cavosie —
without the benefit of a contract — practiced with 15 others
Tuesday morning at Times Union Center in the Albany River Rats'
first practice. The Rats hold their lone home exhibition game
tonight.
"I could have gone to Europe, felt secure, paid the bills and
stuff," said Cavosie, who spent the 2006-07 season in Sweden, "but
I'd be kind of giving up on my dreams. I'd rather maybe take a hit
financially and go for the dream and have no regrets."
