Martin Named CHL All Star
New Mexico goaltender Andrew Martin, who played at Rensselaer,
is among a group of 12 individuals named reserve players for the
Southern Conference that will skate in the 2008 CHL All-Star game
scheduled for Wednesday, January 16 at the Broomfield Event
Center. The Southern Conference reserves were determined by
Arizona's Marco Pietroniro, the South's head coach, and the CHL's
hockey operations department.
Coming into the season, Martin was a relative unknown to most
around the CHL. In the first half of the season he has burst
onto the scene with a dazzling 2.63 goals against average, fourth
among Southern Conference goaltenders, in 12 games played.
The Plano, Texas native will be making his first All-Star Game
appearance. Martin sports a 5-6-1 record and a .912 save
percentage.
Martin was a member of the Engineers from 2003 through 2005.
