Juneau Featured for Making a Difference
Kuujjuaq, Que. - Former Rensselaer star Joe Juneau was recently featured on NBC Nightly News for his work with the youths of the Canadian Arctic. To watch the report, which was done by Kevin Tibbles and aired on November 16, click here.
Juneau tallied 69 goals and 144 assists for 213 points in 124
games for the Engineers from 1987-92. He is currently second in
school history in career assists and fifth in points. The team's
leading point producer in each of his four seasons, he is also
third (52 in 1989-90) and eighth (40 in 1990-91) in single season
assists. A native of Pont-Rouge, Que., Juneau was a two-time
National All-American and twice named a finalist for the
prestigious Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top
college player in the U.S.
The school's Male Freshman Athlete of the Year in 1988 and the Male
Career Athlete of the Year in 1990, he was drafted by the Boston
Bruins in the fourth round of the National Hockey League Entry
Draft and went on to have a stellar NHL career, scoring 572 points
(156 goals, 416 assists) in 828 games for six teams. He also
represented Canada in several national events, including the 1992
Winter Olympics.
