Team Notes: Quinnipiac Travels to No. 20 Yale, Brown

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey will resume ECAC Hockey play this weekend when it travels to No. 20 Yale on Friday, Jan. 6 and Brown on Saturday, Jan. 7.

On The Air
Friday night's game against New Haven County rival Yale can be seen live on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV), where available. Both games are set for a 7 p.m. start.

Last Time Out For The Bobcats
Quinnipiac traveled to University of Nebraska Omaha last weekend, coming away with a 0-1-1 record in the two-game series. The Bobcats and Mavericks tied the first game, 2-2, before Quinnipiac lost the second game, 4-1. Russell Goodman and Yuri Bouharevich both scored in the Bobcats' 2-2 tie while Eric Hartzell stopped 34-of-36 shots on goal from the Mavericks. Zack Currie scored Quinnipiac's only goal in Quinnipiac's 4-1 loss.

First Half Notes
Quinnipiac headed into the annual Holiday Break in third place in the ECAC Hockey standings with nine points (3-4-3) with an overall record of 11-6-3 after posting a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1).

First Half All-ECAC Hockey
Jeremy Langlois was highlighted by Joe Gladziszewski as one of six players selected to InsideCollegeHockey.com's "INCH's First Half All-ECAC Hockey Team". Langlois currently leads Quinnipiac in goals (12) and points (20) in 21 games played.

All-Time Against Yale
Quinnipiac is 6-5-1 all-time against Yale dating back to its first meeting against the Bulldogs on Jan. 8, 2006. Quinnipiac lost that game, 4-3, at the Northford Ice Pavilion, the only game between the two teams at the Bobcats' former home, before rattling off five straight wins. Since the 2009-10 season, Yale holds the advantage with wins in four of the last six meetings between the two teams, which also features two ties. Quinnipiac's last win against Yale came on Feb. 27, 2010, 4-3, at the TD Bank Sports Centers, while its last win on Yale's home ice, Ingalls Rink, came on Feb. 8, 2008, 3-0.

Scouting The Bulldogs
Yale was a consensus preseason Top-10 selection in the USCHO.com Division I and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Division I polls. To date, they currently rank 20
th in the USCHO.com poll and are also receiving votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. Yale is currently 7-5-1 overall including a 4-2-0 record in ECAC Hockey. After winning five of its first seven games, Yale has won twice in its last six. Senior Brian O'Neill leads Yale in goals (9) and points (15) while junior Andrew Miller has accumulated a team-best 11 assists while totaling 13 points. Antoine Laganiere (6-6-12), Kenny Agostino (5-7-12) and Clinton Bourbonais (3-8-11) round-out the Bulldogs' double-digit scorers. In goal, Jeff Malcolm has seen the majority of the time between the pipes, posting a 7-5-1 record with a 2.54 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.

All-Time Against Brown
Quinnipiac and Brown have squared-off 16 times since their first meeting on Jan.6, 2006, with Quinnipiac posting a 10-4-2 record against the Bears. The two teams traded wins over their first four games, with the home team winning each. Quinnipiac then won five straight in the match-up before Brown won two straight. Quinnipiac has held the edge in the last five games, posting a 3-0-2 mark, which also included a pair of 4-0 victories in a sweep of last season's ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round series. Quinnipiac is 8-1-1 all-time at home, including a 6-1-1 mark at the TD Bank Sports Center, and 2-3-1 all-time at Brown's Meehan Auditorium.

Scouting The Bears
Brown is currently 6-6-1 overall and 3-3-0 in ECAC Hockey. After opening the season at 3-2, Brown struggled to find the win column in its next five games (0-4-1). After a 5-3 loss to Yale on Dec. 1, Brown has rattled off three straight victories, with wins coming against Yale (6-4), New Hampshire (5-2) and Providence (5-2). Senior Jack Maclellan leads Brown in goals (7) and points (13) while freshman Ryan Jacobson is close behind with six goals and six assists for 12 points. Sophomore Matt Wahl has tallied a team-high nine assists for the year, while also scoring twice, for 11 points. In goal, Mike Clemente is 5-6-1 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.51 goals-against average.

A December To Remember
Yuri Bouharevich (Montreal, Quebec) led all Bobcats with three goals and three assists for six points for the month of December. Bouharevich had the game-winner with 2.4 seconds remaining in Quinnipiac's 3-2 win against RPI on Dec. 3 and also had the go-ahead goal in Friday's 2-2 tie against Nebraska Omaha.

Tough Way To End A Streak
Prior to letting up four goals against Nebraska Omaha on Saturday, Dec. 31, goalie Eric Hartzell had run his struck of consecutive games in which he held the Bobcats' opponent to two or fewer goals to eight games.

Protect This House
In 11 games this season at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center, Quinnipiac is 8-1-2 (.818).

Non-Conference Dominance
Quinnipiac is also 8-3-1 against all non-ECAC Hockey opponents this season.

Generating Offense
Quinnipiac currently ranks 19th nationally in scoring offense with 69 goals in 22 games for a 3.14 per game average, which ranks third in ECAC Hockey behind Yale (46, 3.54) and Colgate (61, 3.39).

Stingy Defense
The Bobcats rank 10th nationally after allowing 2.23 goals per game through its first 22 games.

Marginally Better
Quinnipiac's 0.91 scoring margin (69-to-49 goals) rank 13th in NCAA Division I hockey.

The Killers
Quinnipiac has successfully killed 84 of 94 penalties through its first 22 games for 89.4%, good for 4th in NCAA Division I hockey. The Bobcats also have three short-handed goals to their credit.
