Vetri Honored by FHL

Danbury Whalers goaltender Peter Vetri, who played at Quinnipiac, has been named the FHL's Goaltender of the Month for his efforts in January.

Vetri has started the Whalers' last 14 games dating back to December and posted a record of 8-2-0-4. He finished the month with a sparkling 47-save performance in an 8-3 victory over the Brooklyn Aviators on Saturday.

"Peter is probably the best goalie in the league," Whalers coach Phil Esposito said after Saturday's win. "He's unbelievable. He's the backstop for us. He helps us win hockey games, and that's what we need going down the stretch and that's what we need in the playoffs."
