Currie Earns Quinnipiac Accolades
Quinnipiac defenseman Zack Currie has been named the Quinnipiac Male Athlete of the Month for January.
Currie, from Victoria, British Columbia, currently leads all Quinnipiac defenseman in points (7 goals, 7 assists, 14 points) thanks in large part to a strong January in which the junior scored two goals and assisted on four more. Currie was the only Bobcat in Quinnipiac's line-up to produce two multiple-point games in QU's four games for the month. He assisted on both goals in a 2-1 upset of ECAC Hockey rival and nationally-ranked No. 20 Yale, before scoring once and assisting on another goal in a 7-1 route of No. 12 Colgate. Currie added assists against Brown and Cornell, making him one of two players on Quinnipiac's roster to tally a point in all four games this month. Among all NCAA Division I players for the month of January, Currie ranks 12th in points per game (1.50), 50th in goals per game (0.50), 18th in assists per game (1.00), 23rd with two power play goals, and second among points by a defenseman.
Quinnipiac hosts Harvard and Dartmouth on Feb. 3-4, respectively, at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. Friday night's tilt against the Crimson is available on New England Sports Network (NESN) and SportsNet New York (SNY).
