Team Notes: Quinnipiac to Host Holy Cross
Season Opener
The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team will host Holy Cross on
Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at High Point Solutions Arena at the
TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.

The Last Time Quinnipiac Was On The Ice
Quinnipiac rattled off four first-period goals on its way to a 4-3
win at Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 8. The Bobcats response to a
2-1 loss on Friday puts Quinnipiac at 1-1 on the season.
All-Time Against Holy Cross
Quinnipiac is 18-5-4 in 27 meetings between the two teams, dating
back to their first match-up on Jan. 2, 1998. The Bobcats are
currently riding a four game unbeaten streak against the Crusaders
(3-0-1) since 2007 and have lost just twice to Holy Cross in their
last 12 meetings. Quinnipiac is also undefeated at home against
Holy Cross with an 11-0-2 record on their own sheet, including a
2-0-0 mark at the TD Bank Sports Center.
Scouting The Crusaders
The Crusaders return 12 forwards to an offense that tied for
fourth in Atlantic Hockey with 3.37 goals per game. Junior Kyle
Fletcher led the team with 38 points a year ago. Junior Rob
Linsmayer has tallied 53 career points in two seasons and is tied
with Fletcher for the team-lead in assists with 22 and was third
with 34 points
The Last Time They Met
Kellen Jones scored twice against Holy Cross
in their last meeting on Oct. 23, 2010. Spencer Heichman scored the game's first
goal, with Yuri Bouharevich and Mike Glaicar picking up assists, before HC's
Mark Znutas tied the game later in the period. After a scoreless
2nd period, Jones scored 29 seconds into the third on assists from
twin brother Connor and Glaicar. He added an insurance goal halfway
through the period to give Quinnipiac a two-goal lead.
QU In Home-Openers
Quinnipiac is 11-2-0 all-time in home openers since joining the
Division I ranks in 1998. Quinnipiac has opened 10 straight
seasons with wins on opening night, with its last loss coming on
Oct. 11, 2002 to Lake Superior State, at the Northford Ice
Pavilion.
Spencer For Hire
Senior Spencer Heichman scored the Bobcats first goal of the
season in Quinnipiac's 2-1 loss to Ohio State on Friday night. In
four career games against Ohio State, Heichman tallied a team-best
two goals and one assist.
Two-Goal Night
Quinnipiac junior Jeremy Langlois picked up where he left off
after leading the Bobcats in goals scored last season with a
two-goal effort against Ohio State in the Bobcats' 4-3 win on
Saturday night.
Lending A Hand
Kellen Jones had a two-assist game against Ohio State on Saturday,
setting up Langlois and twin brother Connor Jones.
The Bobcats At The Bank
Quinnipiac is 47-30-9 (.599) in 86 games at the TD Bank Sports
Center, since its first game, a 7-0 win against Holy Cross, on Jan.
28, 2007. Quinnipiac's 100th Men's Ice Hockey Game at the TD Bank
Sports Center will fall on Feb. 3, 2012 against Harvard.
Head Coach Rand Pecknold
Rand Pecknold enters his 18th year at Quinnipiac ranked 21st among
all active NCAA Division I coaches and 58th all-time in career wins
(318). His career winning percentage (.586, 318-217-55) ranks 87th
all-time.
