INCH A to Z: Loren Barron

The following article featuring Quinnipiac defenseman Loren Barron appeared August 8 on the Inside College Hockey (INCH) Web site.

In this installment of INCH's A-Z feature, we take you from sea to shining sea. The first stop is the Pacific Ocean's Cook Inlet, where we'll meet forward Matt Bailey of Alaska Anchorage. Then it's off to Hamden, Conn., just minutes from Long Island Sound; there we'll find Quinnipiac defenseman Loren Barron.

We'll roll out profiles in the coming weeks on players (and some coaches) you should get to know before the season starts. These may not necessarily be the marquee players on every team, but those who we expect to step into more prominent roles.

LOREN BARRON
Quinnipiac
Jr. | D | Glendora, Calif.

Key Statistics: Barron led Quinnipiac defensemen with 18 points as a sophomore (one goal and 17 assists). He had three goals and eight points as a freshman, with all three goals coming on the power play.

His Impact: Even though he was the team’s leading scorer among blueliners, Barron’s ability isn’t one-dimensional. He led the team in plus/minus and was used on penalty-killing units as well as on the power play. Barron’s skill and knack with his stick will yield high point totals, but he is just as apt in using his stick to win loose puck battles or to make a pokecheck in the defensive zone.
