Team Notes: Quinnipiac Travels to Dartmouth and Harvard

The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team continues ECAC
Hockey play this weekend when it plays at Dartmouth on Friday, Nov.
4 and Harvard on Saturday, Nov. 5, with both games set for a 7 p.m.
start.

The Last Time The Bobcats Were On The Ice
Quinnipiac opened ECAC Hockey play on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at
Princeton with a 5-2 win against the Tigers. Five different Bobcats
scored in the game, as Russell Goodman, Scott
Zurevinski, Kellen Jones, Bryce Van
Brabant and Yuri Bouharevich found the back of the
net.Connor Jones had two assists while Dan
Clarke had 25 saves to improve to 5-1-0 on the
year.
Offensive Firepower
Quinnipiac has scored four goals in eight straight games,
the longest since the 2009-10 team accomplished the same feat. The
Quinnipiac record for most consecutive games with four or more
goals is 14, set by the 1999-2000 team. The 2011-12 Bobcats are the
fifth team in program history to post eight straight games with
four or more goals.
Bobcats On The Move In National Polls
Quinnipiac moved up one spot in the USCHO.com Division I
poll, slotting into the No. 19 spot, while also moving up two spots
in the INCH Power Rankings to No. 16. The Bobcats also received 18
votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, which would slot
thin in the No. 20 spot.
Langlois, Peca Named ECAC Hockey/Fischer Hockey Athletes of the
Month
Linemates Jeremy Langlois and Matthew
Peca were honored by ECAC Hockey with the first-ever Fischer
Hockey Monthly Awards, for October. Langlois was named Player of
the Month while Peca was named Rookie of the Month. Langlois
currently leads the Bobcats and ECAC Hockey with 14 points and is
averaging one point per game. Peca has enjoyed a solid first month
in his collegiate career, totaling three goals and five assists for
eight points, the most among all Quinnipiac freshman.
All-Time Against Dartmouth
Quinnipiac is 9-6-1 all-time against Dartmouth since
their first meeting on Oct. 30, 2004 in Hanover, N.H. The Bobcats
are 2-4-1 all-time at Dartmouth's Thompson Arena, with losses in
their last two games on the Big Green's sheet. Their last win in
New Hampshire came on Feb. 28, 2009.
Scouting The Big Green
Dartmouth is currently 1-1-0 following its season-opening
Ivy Shootout on Oct. 28-29 at Thompson Arena. Dartmouth defeated
Brown, 2-1, before losing to nationally-ranked Yale, 2-1. Freshman
Tyler Sikura leads Dartmouth with a goal and an assist for two
points, both coming in his collegiate debut against Brown on Oct.
28. Junior Dustin Walsh added a pair of assists in the game. In
goal, James Mello has allowed three goals in 118:50 in net for a
1.51 goals against average while stopping 47 of 50 shots on net
over the Big Green's first two games for a .940 save percentage.
Mello stopped 24 of 25 shots on goal against Brown and 23 of 25
against Yale on the following night.
All-Time Against Harvard
Quinnipiac is 6-7-2 all-time against Harvard, but just
2-7-0 at the Crimson's Bright Hockey Center. Quinnipiac has won
just once in its last three trips to Cambridge, with their win
coming in their last trip on Dec. 8, 2010 with a 3-1 victory on the
Crimson's home ice.
Scouting The Crimson
Harvard will be stepping onto the ice for the first time
on Friday, Nov. 4 when it hosts Princeton at 7 p.m. In the
Crimson's 7-4 throttling of Western Ontario, in an exhibition game
on Oct. 21, Luke Greiner, Alex Killorn and Conor Morrison all
scored twice.
The Last Time They Met
Quinnipiac and Dartmouth last faced each other on Feb.
11, 2011, with Dartmouth coming out the victor, 3-1. Alex Goodship,
Nick Walsh and Paul Lee accounted for the Big Green's offense while
Connor Jones scored for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac won its last game
against Harvard, 3-1, on Dec. 8, behind goals from Jeremy
Langlois, Clay Harvey and John Dunbar.
Langlois Named Quinnipiac Athlete of the Month
Jeremy Langlois was also named the Quinnipiac Athlete of
the Month for October after leading the Bobcats to a No. 19 ranking
in the USCHO.com Poll to close-out the first month of the
season.
Peca Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week
Peca, in his first season at Quinnipiac, helped the
Bobcats to a 2-1-0 week after scoring in each of Quinnipiac's three
games and also picking up an assist in the Bobcats win against
Bentley. For the year, Peca has totaled three goals and five
assists for eight points. He ranks second in total points among all
rookies in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey and tied for 4th in
points per game (1.00). Peca is the second Bobcats player to earn
weekly ECAC Hockey honors after Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) was
named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on Oct. 7, 2011.
Point Streak
Jeremy Langlois saw his eight-game point streak come to
an unfortunate end on Tuesday night when Princeton was able to keep
the third-year center's name out of the box score for the first
time this season. Langlois' streak was the longest season-opening
streak since Eric Lampe had a point in the first eight games of the
2009 season.
Battled Test
Quinnipiac had a five-game winning streak stopped with a
5-4 loss to Robert Morris, but were able to savage a split with the
Colonials. In a 10-day stretch, Quinnipiac posted a 5-1-0 record
with wins against Bentley, Canisius, Holy Cross and
RMU.
Great Start Clarkie
Goalie Dan Clarke is currently 5-1-0 with a .928 save
percentage and a 1.50 goals against average. Clarke has allowed
just five goals in his last 240 minutes in net over his last five
appearances, which also included a 14-save, 4-0 shutout of Canisius
on Oct. 16.
Top Line
The line of Langlois, Peca and Scott Zurevinski has
combined for 13 of Quinnipiac's 40 goals and seven of the Bobcats'
10 power-play goals.
Keep Rolling Those Two Lines
The Bobcats' second line of Connor and Kellen Jones and
Russell Goodman have accounted for eight goals and 15 assists.
Connor is second in scoring (3-9-12), just ahead of Kellen
(4-5-9).
