Evaluating Quinnipiac based solely on their won-loss record after the first two weeks of the season would yield generally positive results. The Bobcats have won three of their first four games, and head west this weekend for two games at St. Cloud State.
Digging a little deeper into the results so far shows some uneven efforts despite a good overall record. Suppose it’s better to win when you’re not playing your best than to lose during strong, consistent efforts.
“We’ve been OK so far. I’m happy we’re 3-1 but I wouldn’t say that we’ve played our best hockey,” Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold said. “We’ve been sporadic at times, sometimes playing well in the first and third periods, or the second and third periods. In our three wins, I’d say we’ve barely played good enough to win.”
