Team Notes: Quinnipiac vs. UMass on NESN

The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team's game against University of
Massachusetts on Nov. 27, 2010 at the Mullins Center in Amherst,
Mass. can be seen live on the New England Sports Network (NESN) at
7 p.m.

The Bobcats' game against UMass will be available via live audio
stream and can be heard at www.wqun.com or on WQUN AM 1220
featuring Paul Pacelli will have the play-by-play while Todd
Carroll will provide the color commentary. Bill Schweizer will have
the play-by-play on the NESN broadcast of the game with Rich
Coppola providing the color and Bill Mecca with the sideline
report.
All-Time Against Massachusetts
Quinnipiac and UMass met for the first time in program history
last season, in what would prove to be a thrilling game, also aired
on NESN, between two Top 10 nationally-ranked teams. Quinnipiac was
9th at the time, while UMass was ranked 10th. Quinnipiac jumped out
to a 3-0 lead, before UMass stormed back and ultimately forced
overtime. Quinnipiac took the first match-up between the New
England schools on a one-timer by Brandon Wong in overtime to win
the game.
Scouting The Minutemen
UMass is currently 1-6-3 overall and 1-3-3 in Hockey East play.
The Minutemen picked up their first victory of the season on
Tuesday, Nov. 23 with a 4-1 win against Vermont at home. Michael
Pereira leads the Minutemen with seven goals, while he is also tied
for the team lead with T. J. Syner with nine points. Syner
carries a team-best six assists on the season. Paul Dainton and
Jeff Teglia have split the goaltending duties, with Dainton posting
a 1-3-2 record with a .912 save percentage and a 3.16 goals-against
average. Teglia is 0-3-1 with a .899 save percentage and a 3.37
GAA.
The Big Goalie
Prior to Tuesday night's 3-0 loss to Princeton, Quinnipiac had won
three straight games, thanks in large part to the play of sophomore
goalie Eric Hartzell. Over the last four games, Hartzell is 3-1-0
with a 1.79 GAA after allowing seven goals in 238:35 in goal.
Hartzell has also stopped 119 of 126 shots on goal in the four-game
span for a .944 save percentage.
Among The Division I Leaders
Hartzell's 1.72 GAA and .942 save percentage both rank fifth among
all NCAA Division I goalies.
