Holt Starts Pro Career with Rio Grande Valley
HIDALGO, TEXAS — The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that former Quinnipiac forward Greg Holt has signed with the team for the 2010-11 hockey season.
Holt, 24, played four seasons of NCAA Division1 hockey at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. In 39 games last season, he totaled 30 points (10-20-30) and 48 penalty minutes (PIM). In 144 career games there, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward collected 68 points (24-44-68) and 160 PIM.
“Greg is a talented offensive player,” Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. “His speed and skill level are his two greatest attributes. He has a knack around the net. His skill set compliments some of our other signings. I am excited to have him join our team.”
A Long Island, New York, native, Holt was the leading scorer in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) in 2005-06 after posting 76 points (33-43-76) in just 48 games for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs. He was named the 2006 EJHL Offensive Player of the Year, 2006 EJHL Playoff MVP, and was a 2006 EJHL All-Star. He also helped lead the Monarchs to the EJHL regular-season championship.
“It seems like a great opportunity to start my pro career,” Holt said.”I’m excited to come into camp and work hard and hopefully contribute to the team’s success.”
