Quinnipiac Hall of Fame to Welcome Muzyka

HAMDEN, Conn. – Former Quinnipiac standout Ed Muzyka is
among eight former student-athletes, two teams, one current
administrator and one current head coach, to be inducted into the
Quinnipiac Athletic Hall of Fame during a special ceremony on
Saturday, Feb. 28. The honorees were selected by the Athletics
Advisory Board, and it marks Quinnipiac’s first Athletic Hall
of Fame induction class since February of 2003.
The induction ceremony will kick-off an entire day of special
events during Winter Homecoming with a brunch at the Athletic and
Recreation Center on the Mount Carmel Campus from 10 a.m.-noon. The
Quinnipiac women’s basketball team then plays the first game
of a home doubleheader against in-state rival Central Connecticut
State University at the TD Banknorth Sports Center at 1 p.m. All
inductees will be honored during the second half of the contest.
The men’s basketball match-up versus CCSU tips off at 4 p.m.
and will be televised on MSG.
The list of inductees includes: Richard Barry, men’s
basketball player from 1992-95; Tim Belcher, baseball player from
1993-97; Mark Krauter, men’s soccer player from 1985-87;
Alicia (Longobardi) Giaimo, softball player from 1993-97; Bill
Mecca, Senior Associate Athletic Director and former head coach,
1978-present; Muzyka, men’s ice hockey player from 1982-86;
Christina (Nasta) Coan, women’s volleyball player from
1990-93; Mike Quitko, men’s and women’s tennis head
coach from 1991-present; Tara (Thibeault) Griffiths, field hockey
player from 1994-97; Kimberly (Witteman) Doheny, women’s
soccer player from 1992-95; the 1983 Baseball Team; and the 1983-84
Women’s Basketball Team.
