Idaho Inks Sorteberg

Defenseman Matt Sorteberg, a former Quinnipiac standout, has agreed to terms with the Idaho Steelheads for the 2009-2010 season.

Sortberg was originally signed by the Steelheads late in the 2008-2009 season by head coach Derek Laxdal.

“We brought (Matt) in late out of college and were impressed with what we saw,” Laxdal said of the pair. “I’m anxious to see what (Matt) can do over a whole season as a professional.”

Laxdal didn’t get to see much of Sorteberg in a Steelhead sweater because the 23-year-old only played a game and a half with Idaho. After joining the team from Quinnipiac University, Sorteberg suffered a season-ending injury in his second game with the club.
