Bobcats' Fisher has Left Early Struggles Behind
The following article featuring Quinnipiac goaltender Bud Fisher appeared in the March 10 issue of the New Haven Register.
By Chip Malafronte
Bud Fisher emerged from the Quinnipiac locker room Saturday
night roughly 10 minutes after having surrendered three goals in
just over three minutes — including the overtime winner
— in the Bobcats’ cataclysmic meltdown against Colgate
in the ECAC Hockey playoffs.
Staring straight ahead, he paused for a moment, took a deep breath
and exhaled. He then entered the team weight room to pedal an
exercise bike in solitude.
That was all it took for Fisher, the senior goaltender, to put the
evening’s dismal performance to bed. One night later, he was
in elite form. Fisher made 39 saves, five in overtime, as
Quinnipiac advanced to the quarterfinals for the fourth straight
season with a dramatic 4-3 victory.
