Team Notes: Quinnipiac Hosts RPI Friday

Quinnipiac enters Friday night’s game riding a five-game
win streak - including four wins in six days last week - and stand
at 11-6-1 overall and 6-3-1 in ECAC Hockey. RPI is 3-15-1 overall
and 2-5-0 in league play. The Bobcats and the Engineers hit the ice
at 7 p.m.

When the Quinnipiac University men’s ice hockey team hosts
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday, Jan. 9, NHL pioneer
Willie O’Ree will be in attendance. O’Ree was the first
African-American to play in the NHL when he debuted for the Boston
Bruins in 1958.
All-Time Against Rensselaer
Quinnipiac is 5-4-3 all-time against Rensselaer, dating back to
the first game between the two teams on Oct. 16, 1999. RPI won the
first four meetings between the two teams while Quinnipiac has gone
undefeated against the Engineers (5-0-3) since the 2005-06 season.
Quinnipiac downed RPI earlier this season, 5-1 on Nov. 15.
Quinnipiac won the only meeting between the two teams at the TD
Banknorth Sports Center, 3-2 on Dec. 1, 2007.
