“We always try to put together a competitive
non-conference schedule and this year is certainly no
exception,” Bobcats head coach Rand Pecknold said.
“Opening the year at Ohio State will be a challenge, as will
a road contest at Holy Cross. Having UMass, St. Cloud State and
Niagara playing on our home ice will give us great exposure and
should test us. Naturally, the ECAC Hockey schedule is one of the
toughest in college hockey, so we once again have our work cut out
for us.”
Quinnipiac’s first on-ice action of the 2009-10 season falls
on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they host the University of Prince Edward
Island at 4 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center. That date will also
serve as a special youth day to benefit Autism Speaks. Youth
organizations from the surrounding area will be allowed, for the
first time, to play a series of mini-games on the Bobcats’
home-ice.
The Bobcats’ first regular-season game is later that week
when Quinnipiac will head to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio State in a
two-game series on Thursday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 9. Quinnipiac
will host Bentley on Saturday, Oct. 17 for their home-opener.
Quinnipiac Athletics will be hosting Midnight Madness on Friday,
Oct. 16 on Lender Court at the TD Bank Sports Center.
Following their home-opener against Bentley, the Bobcats are idle
until they Oct. 30-31 when they head to Moon Township, Pa. to face
Robert Morris. They will then return home to face ECAC Hockey foes
Clarkson on Nov. 6 and St. Lawrence on Nov. 7. Quinnipiac will also
be home on Nov. 13 against Harvard and Nov. 15 against Dartmouth.
The following weekend sees Quinnipiac at Colgate on Nov. 20 and
Cornell on Nov. 21. They will then host Princeton on the night
before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, Nov. 25, and the University of
Massachusetts on Saturday, Nov. 28.
December will find the Bobcats finding four games in eight days
when they travel to Yale on Dec. 4, Brown on Dec. 5, Holy Cross on
Dec. 10 before hosting American International on Dec. 12. Following
a three-week lay-off, Quinnipiac closes out the 2009 calendar year
in Cambridge, Mass. to face Harvard on Dec. 29.
The New Year starts with Quinnipiac on the road, this time at
history Hobey Baker Rink to square-off against Princeton. After
their tilt against the Tigers, Quinnipiac returns from the road for
a six-game home stand. Union and Rensselaer come to York Hill on
Jan. 8-9, respectively, before the Bobcats host four straight
non-conference games. Quinnipiac will welcome St. Cloud State to
the TD Bank Sports Center on Jan. 15-16, and Niagara on Jan. 22-23.
After a single ECAC Hockey game at Dartmouth on Jan. 29, the
Bobcats then swing back home to play Cornell on Feb. 5 and Colgate
on Feb. 6.
Once again back on-the-road, Quinnipiac heads to the North Country
to face St. Lawrence on Feb. 12 and Clarkson on Feb. 13. Their
upstate New York swing continues with games at Rensselaer on Feb.
19 and Union on Feb. 20. They will close out the regular-season at
home against Brown on Feb. 26 and Yale on Feb. 27. February 27 will
