Fleck Named to CHL All-Star Team
Oklahoma City Blazers defenseman Tyler Fleck, who played at
Quinnipiac, was named to the 2009 CHL All Star team, the Blazers
front office announced today.
Fleck, a 5-10, 210-pounder from Carlyle, Sask. is making his
second appearance as a CHL All Star. This season, Fleck has seven
points (1-6-7), has served 42 penalty minutes and is tied for third
on the team with a plus/minus rating of +8. The ninth-year
rearguard was also named to the 2004 Northern Conference All Star
team.
The Blazers will have three representatives at the 2009 CHL All
Star Game. Joining Fleck will be goaltender Andy Franck and head
coach Doug Sauter. Sauter and Odessa bench boss Paul Gillis will
coach the CHL All Stars against the Colorado Eagles in the special
All Star Game.
As host team, the Colorado Eagles, will play against a group of
All Stars assembled from the other 15 clubs in the CHL. The unique
format dates back to the “Original Six” days of the
National Hockey League when the defending Stanley Cup Champion club
would play a group of All Stars from the other clubs in the
league.
The 2009 CHL All Star Game, presented by Poudre Health Systems,
will be played January 14 in Loveland, Colo. at 8:05 p.m. (CST) and
will be televised live on Altitude Sports Network. The other
members of the CHL All Star Team will be announced tomorrow. Each
CHL team is represented on the All Star Team.
