Home Opener Also Opener of Bobcats' TV Broadcast Schedule

HAMDEN, Conn. -- Quinnipiac University Athletics today announced the addition of two men’s ice hockey games to form a 13-game overall television broadcast schedule, including tomorrow’s home opener on WCTX/MyTV9 when the Bobcats host in-state rival University of Connecticut at 7 p.m. The Bobcats’ first televised game of the season is part of a five-game overall television package for men’s ice hockey that also features three games on the New England Sports Network (NESN), as announced last month.

In addition to Saturday’s game, Quinnipiac’s ECAC Hockey home game against Yale University on Friday, Feb. 20 has been added to the slate and also will be featured on WCTX/MyTV9.

“We are very pleased to continue our partnership with WCTX/MyTV9 while making two more ice hockey games available throughout the state,” said Jack McDonald, Quinnipiac University director of athletics and recreation.

The “Voice of the Bobcats” Bill Schweizer will provide the play-by-play for all television broadcasts, while Rich Coppola and Bill Mecca will serve as color analyst and sideline reporter, respectively.

MyTV9, formerly WCTX-TV, made its debut on Sept. 5, 2006 as a part of MyNetworkTV. MyTV9 is Connecticut's broadcast home of Yankees baseball. It also airs syndicated programming and provides two live, local newscasts: Non-Stop News at 10 on MyTV9, and a live 7 a.m. version of Good Morning Connecticut. Both news shows are produced by sister station WTNH-TV, News Channel 8.
