Everblades Add Travis
ESTERO, FL -– Florida Everblades president and general
manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced
today the team has signed former Quinnipiac forward Dan Travis to a
contract for the 2008-09 season.
Travis joins the Everblades after four years in the college ranks.
The last two seasons saw the Wilton, New Hampshire native skate
with the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The 24-year-old finished off last
season by scoring 21 points (12g, 9a) in 37 games. In 2006-07 the
6-foot-3, 213-pound forward saw his season limited to just 18 games
because of injury, but managed 14 points (4g, 10a).
“Dan is someone we’re real excited about seeing in
Florida.” Cameron added. “He’s a big, strong
power forward who drives the net hard. He plays hard, and, like
Bowers, he is gaining experience right now by skating in the
AHL’s Worcester Sharks training camp.”
Travis, who was a 5th round draft pick by the Florida Panthers in
the 2003 NHL entry draft, began his collegiate hockey career at the
University of New Hampshire. In his freshman and sophomore seasons
Travis combined to score seven points in 23 games.
