Stanley Cup on Display at Quinnipiac
HAMDEN, Conn. -- The Stanley Cup, the oldest and most revered
trophy in sports, will visit Quinnipiac University’s TD
Banknorth Sports Center on Friday, Dec. 5 when the men’s ice
hockey team hosts Providence College at 7:30 p.m. The trophy,
presented annually to the National Hockey League playoff champion,
will be displayed from 5-7 p.m. for that night’s ticket
holders to the game. Fans are encouraged to bring their own cameras
and have their photo taken with the Cup. All individual photo
opportunities are free, limited to one per person. Professional
photography services will not be made available for fan
purchase.
The game between Quinnipiac (6-5-1) and Providence (2-11-1) will
be televised on the New England Sports Network (NESN) beginning at
7:30 p.m. The contest marks the first time that Quinnipiac has ever
hosted a men’s ice hockey opponent from the Hockey East
conference. Quinnipiac is currently in its fourth season as a
member of ECAC Hockey.
The Quinnipiac Women’s Ice Hockey Team will also host
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 3 p.m. on Friday, prior to the
men’s game.
