Lynx Ink Doherty

The Augusta Lynx of the ECHL and Head Coach Bob Ferguson have announced that defenseman John Doherty, who played at Quinnipiac, has agreed to terms for the 2007-08 season.

Doherty, 23, comes to the Lynx with what Coach Ferguson calls “unlimited potential.” After playing collegiately for both New Hampshire and Quinnipiac, Doherty first professional action came last season as the defenseman from Lynnfield, Massachusetts spent time in both the ECHL and the United Hockey League. Doherty was a 2nd round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

“John has outstanding abilities for a bigger player,” said Ferguson. “Skating is his strength, which is unusual for someone of his size and he is solid at both ends of the rink.”
