Team Notes: Princeton Hosts Quinnipiac in Home Opener
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men’s hockey team hosts Quinnipiac on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m., in the 2011-12 home opener and game one of the ECAC Hockey schedule.
Princeton owns an 8-5-1 edge in the all-time series with its travel partner Quinnipiac, since the teams started playing each other in 2005. The Tigers are undefeated at 2-0-1 in its last three games of the series. Last year at Baker Rink, the teams played to a 1-1 tie. Jeremy Langlois put the Bobcats on the scoreboard at 7:09 of the second period and Derrick Pallis tied the game with an unassisted goal less than nine minutes later.
Princeton went 0-1-1 this past weekend at the Ivy Shootout. The Tigers played to a 1-1 draw with No. 6 Yale and fell to Brown 3-2 in the non-conference games. Junior defender Michael Sdao leads the Tigers in scoring, getting a goal against both Yale and Brown last weekend. Sophomore Jack Berger picked up assists on both goals against Brown. Six other Tigers have one point. The tandem of sophomore Sean Bonar and junior Mike Condon will mind the net. Bonar played in the Yale game and has a 1.85 goals against average and a .933 save percentage while Condon played the Brown game and has a 3.04 GAA and an .855 save percentage.
Quinnipiac enters the ECAC Hockey opener with a 6-2 record. The Bobcats played their first games back on Oct. 7-8 with a pair of games at Ohio State. Quinnipiac has outscored its opponents 35-16, is 10 for 51 (19.6%) on the power play and 28 for 34 (82.4%) on the penalty kill. Junior Jeremy Langlois has eight goals and six assists for 14 points as the team’s leading scorer. Sophomore Connor Jones has 10 points on three goals and a team-high seven assists. Quinnipiac has utilized three goalies this season with senior Dan Clarke and junior Eric Hartzell switching on and off. Clarke has a 4-1 record with a 1.39 GAA and a .929 save percentage, while Hartzell is 2-1 with a 2.78 GAA and an .855 save percentage. Senior backup Jake Whiting has also seen action.
