Hagel Inks Deal with St. Louis
Former Princeton standout Kyle Hagel recently signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues for the 2011-12 season.
Hagel, 26, spent the 2010-11 campaign with the Rockford Ice Hogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 77 games with Rockford, the Hamilton, Ontario native scored five goals and assisted on 14 tallies.
Off the ice, Hagel was named Rockford’s Man of the Year for his efforts in community service. He founded a student program called “Stick to Reading” and also volunteered to help out with area youth hockey team practices.
Hagel appeared in nine games with the IceHogs during the 2009-10 season. He also played 42 games with Las Vegas of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), compiling seven goals and eight assists for 15 points. Hagel tied for the team lead in postseason scoring (four points) and goals (three).
After playing four seasons at Princeton, Hagel made his professional debut with the Fresno Falcons (ECHL) in 2008-09. After the Falcons folded mid-season, Hagel joined the Reading Royals (ECHL) and accumulated seven goals and six assists in 38 overall games during his rookie campaign in the ECHL.
