After Scott Bertoli graduated from Princeton University, the Trenton Titans gave him a chance to play professional ice hockey. The Titans also made Bertoli the only player to have his jersey number retired.

When the Titans’ future was in limbo after the New Jersey Devils cut ties with them, Bertoli wanted to help get them back to what he remembered as one of the best experiences of his life.

”I played for the better part of eight years there,” Bertoli said. “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was disappointed to see the franchise take a turn in a different direction. They had a different philosophy than when I was there.”
