PRINCETON - The Princeton men's hockey team wraps up the 2009-10
regular season this weekend at home against fourth-ranked Yale and
Brown as the Tigers fight for home ice in the opening round of the
ECAC playoffs next weekend.
Princeton split a pair of games last weekend in the Capital
District of New York State, falling at 16th-ranked Union 4-1 and
defeating Rensselaer 7-0. On Friday night, Union built a 3-0 lead
with goals in the second and third period before Kevin Lohry put
Princeton on the board late in the third period. Union sealed the
win with an empty-net goal.
The following day, Zane Kalemba and the Tiger penalty kill shined
in the first period before the offense took over in the second and
third periods. Kalemba made 20 saves in the opening stanza and the
Tigers killed off five penalties before Matt Arhontas gave the
Tigers a lead late in the first. The Tigers then exploded for three
goals in each of the next to periods en route to the 7-0 win. Will
MacDonald had two goals and an assist while Mark Magnowski had a
goal and two helpers. Arhontas, Brodie Zuk and Taylor Fedun also
had multiple points in the win. MacDonald and Marc Hagel were the
only Tigers with points in both games last weekend.
