BRIDGEPORT -- Princeton may have been fascinating, but Brett
Westgarth had to get away from hockey for a year.
Sitting out what would have been his junior year, 2004-05, the man
who turned out this year to be a Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman
took a break in an unusual way: He bolted for South America.
"I just wasn't happy playing hockey," Westgarth said. "I
volunteered in Ecuador to get some work experience. I feel I used
the year off reasonably productively."
