Kalemba Adds All-America Status to List of Honors
Princeton junior Zane Kalemba was named a second-team
All-America on Friday night, becoming the sixth Tiger to ever
receive an American Hockey Coaches Association All-America
honor.
Kalemba was also a Top Ten Finalist for the 2009 Hobey Baker Award
and won the ECAC Player and Goalie of the Year Awards. He led all
goaltenders in the league in conference goals against and save
percentage, and his numbers led the nation in both categories
through the regular season.
He finished the season at 22-10-1 in the Tiger net this season with
a 1.82 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. He ranked
fourth nationally in goals against and third in save
percentage.
In addition to becoming Princeton’s second ever ECAC Player
of the Year, Kalemba also won the Ken Dryden Award winner as the
league’s Goaltender of the Year. He was also named a
first-team All-ECAC making him the first Princeton goalie to ever
receive All-ECAC distinction.
Kalemba honor marks the second straight year that Princeton has had
an All-America and the sixth overall honor. Princeton has had four
first-team selections: Hank Bothfeld in 1953, Cliff Abrecht in 1986
and Lee Jubinville and Mike Moore last season. Kalemba joins Steve
Shirreffs in 1998.
