Powe Named Flyers' Most Improved Player

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Flyers forward Darroll Powe, a former Princeton standout, has won the Pelle Lindbergh Memorial Trophy as the Flyer who has most improved from the previous season, as voted by his teammates.

In a ceremony prior to Tuesday night's Flyers-Florida Panthers game at the Wachovia Center, the Philadelphia Flyers announced the winners of the team’s 2008-09 awards. Club general manager Paul Holmgren presented the award to Powe.

Powe, a rookie, has six goals and five assists for 11 points and 31 penalty minutes in 56 games this season. In his first full year as a professional in 2007-08, Powe had nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points and 133 penalty minutes in 76 games for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.
