Schneider Returning to Europe
Former Princeton standout David Schneider has signed a contract for the 2008-09 season with Djurgårdens IF (Sweden), it was announced Monday by Djurgårdens IF head coach Janne Jarlefelt.
Schneider, a native of Chicago, is the first American-born player ever to play for Djurgårdens IF, and the first foreign player signed for the 2008-09 campaign. Schneider has experience playing in Europe, spending four years in Finland with TPS Turku (2003-05) and HPK Hameenlinna (2004-06).
Schneider spent the 2007-08 season with Norfolk of the American Hockey League. In 71 contests, he compiled two goals and 25 assists for 27 points.
A four-year standout at Princeton (1998-02), Schneider competed in 98 games, registering 18 goals and 32 assists.
