Right wing George Parros, who was not in the Ducks’
lineup, wasn’t quite sure what to make of all the
extracurricular activity that took place in Wednesday night’s
6-4 victory over the San Jose Sharks in an NHL exhibition opener at
Honda Center.
The teams, who meet again Friday night in San Jose, engaged in six
fights, something that did not escape the notice of Parros (left),
the Ducks’ resident heavyweight.
“Years ago, when I first started playing pro, pre-season was
like a Wild West shootout, just like last night — five fights
a game, and it was pretty ridiculous,” Parros said after
Thursday’s practice at Anaheim Ice. “For some reason,
the last couple of years, I think I’ve gotten in one or
two-preseason fights. I don’t really know what governs that
or what’s going on, but it seems like everyone around the
league has been fighting a lot this year. Guys are antsy.”
